Membership Update 3/30/22: Club Governance
Ahead of the 2022 season, members have started to receive their membership packs for the year, including key documents which support the proposed governance reforms at Kent Cricket:
- Constitution and rules of the club 2022
- Mandate of the Appointments Committee
- Report from the Shadow Nom Com with biographies of the 11 proposed non-executive directors and includes a ballot inside the cover
Members will be asked to approve new club rules and terms of reference as well as ratify the new board of directors at the club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on April 25 at Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence. Members can access the AGM on presentation of a valid membership card for 2022.
A postal voting process is also organized to allow as many MPs as possible to participate. The deadline for receipt by the Club of any ballot is Monday, April 25, 2022 at 09:00.
Kent Cricket’s board structure and proposed composition of the board will bring the club in line with Sport England’s code, the County Partnership Agreement (CPA) we have entered into with the ECB to secure funding , and is also part of Kent Cricket’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Action Plan.
Simon Philip, Chairman of Kent Cricket, who as Chairman of the Ghost Nominations Committee led the selection process, said: “The Kent Cricket General Committee began this work two years ago as part of our commitments Sport England and CPA. It is now included in our developing EDI action plan.
“Over 100 applications were received for the board, and the 11 successful candidates are all highly qualified and offer the skills needed to move the club forward on all fronts. Full details are included in the 2022 Membership Packs.
“We warmly welcome these membership candidates, who we believe will ensure the club has access to the skills it needs to operate successfully, while meeting all of our obligations to the ECB and Sport England and delivering on our commitments across the equality, diversity and inclusion game. .”
