Rabbatt’s women’s sports group tasked with increasing media value for WSL and England

March 11 – The English FA spoke with former FA manager Heather Rabbatts’ Women’s Sports Group about the distribution of all UK media rights for the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

Women’s Sports Group was founded “to create new opportunities to promote, improve and empower women’s sport”.

The new round of media rights sales from the 2021/22 season is set to begin and includes all matches of FA-controlled women’s football clubs and national teams. David Kogan, who advises on sports rights sales for the Premier League and Football League, will lead the FA consultation.

“The next round of media rights for women’s football is extremely important to the long-term success of football. There has been a great deal of momentum in women’s football since last summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup ™ where over a billion views were recorded and we will look to build on this to further enhance the value of women’s sport, ”said Rabbatts (pictured).

The FA is looking to increase the media value of its Women’s National Team and the Women’s Super League. While the English women failed to capitalize on their 2019 World Cup successes on the pitch, they have become a powerful and recognizable media force.

Kelly Simmons, Director of the FA’s Women’s Professional Game, said: “The Women’s Sports Group was created to bring even more value to women’s sport and we believe they are in an ideal position to help us push the envelope. Barclays FA Women’s Super League to the next stop. level.”
