MARLBOROUGH – The Boston Bruins’ top minor in the minor leagues will move to Marlborough for their 2020-21 season.
The Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League announced Monday that they will play their home games at the New England Sports Center this season. The Dunkin ‘Donuts Center in Providence – the team’s usual arena – is used by the State of Rhode Island for various COVID-19 initiatives and is not available for the season, according to a press release from the team.
“We welcome the Providence Bruins to the New England Sports Center for this fan-less season,” H. Larue Renfroe, owner and president of the Providence Bruins, said in a press release. âWe do it with a heavy heart because the team belongs to Dunk, where we look forward to returning next season and beyond. The Boston-Providence partnership is very strong and we are playing this season to support the Bruins as they play for a Stanley Cup.
The American Hockey League is playing a shortened season this year starting early next month and ending in early May. More details on the upcoming season will be announced later.
