Here are the results of the New England Sports Survey.

The last year in New England sports has been a momentous one. And a recently released survey paints a picture of how this year has affected fans’ opinions of local teams.

In this year’s edition of the New England Sports Survey, conducted by Channel Media and Market Research, more than 16,000 local fans expressed their feelings about the players, teams and coaches. The Patriots got the most votes in several categories including Favorite Sports Team, Best Property (Robert Kraft) and Leadership (Bill Belichick), the most improved team in a year and most likely to win a other championship. The Bruins received the Worst Sporting Moment of the Year award. Here are the results:

Overall team ratings and best votes:

Patriots: A +

  • Most Admired: Tom Brady; Finalist: Julian Edelman
  • How long Brady will be the quarterback: 2 years (50%), 3 years (29%)
  • Most Disappointing Player: Cyrus Jones
  • Player they most want to join: Patrick Mahomes II
  • Favorite player to win a championship: Tom Brady
  • Least favorite player to win a championship: Darrelle Revis

Improvements: Pay Tom Brady, Treat Tom Brady Like the GOAT, Keep / Extend Bill Belichick, Find a Real and Viable Tom Brady Replacement, Secure Strong Wide Receivers, Sign Good Tight Ends

Red Sox: C

  • Most Admired: Mookie Betts; Finalist: Xander Bogaerts
  • Most disappointing: Chris Sale
  • Most coveted player: Shane Greene
  • Favorite player to win a championship: David Ortiz
  • Least favorite player to win a league: Daisuke Matsuzaka

Improvements: Trade for a closer solid, acquire / trade for better medium backup pitch, improve pitching staff, extend Mookie Betts contract, avoid long term signings that are too expensive

Celtics: B

  • Most Admired: Marcus Smart; Finalist: Al Horford
  • Most Disappointing Player: Kyrie Irving
  • Player they most want to join the team: Giannis Antetokounmpo
  • Favorite player to win a championship: Bill Russell
  • Least favorite player to win a championship: Rajon Rondo

Improvements: Play basketball selflessly, get big game, stronger playing strategy, play defense, move faster on court.

Bruins: A-

  • Most admired: Patrice Bergeron; Finalist: Brad Marchand
  • Most Disappointing Player: David Backes
  • Player they most want to join: Connor McDavid
  • Favorite player to win a championship: Bobby Orr
  • Least favorite player to win a championship: Tyler Seguin

Improvements: Stronger puck movement, be more physical / harder on the ice, don’t leave the best players unsigned, more physical players, acquire a real scorer / sniper

Revolution NE: B +

  • Most admired: Cristian Penilla – finalist: Diego Fagundez
  • Most disappointing player: Gustavo Bou
  • Player they most want to join: Cristiano Ronaldo

What they can do to improve attendance: Have a “football-only” stadium, more media coverage, keep Bruce Arena, more team marketing, have more known players / European stars
